After getting the encore I found a much better method for my Kamira (a 9) which I would never have had time to grind so fine with a hand grinder. I couldn't really experiment with different grind consistencies because it was a lot of effort and the finer you get the more work it takes. I used a good quality hand grinder (same as yours) for a year and a half before I took the plunge. I'm enjoying my Encore (3 months I think it's been). So with that being said, yes, it is worth it.

Heck, even Chris Baca uses an Encore for his home manual brew stuff. People want to pick and call all out the little discrepancies about the Encore.
I still use it for all my manual brew stuff at home. After working with those grinders you'd think I'd take my Encore and throw it in the trash. When I worked in the specialty coffee industry I worked with grinders such as EK43s, K30s, and Mazzers. After about 6 months of hand grinder, I went and bought the Encore.
After awhile it became annoying, especially if I decided I wanted another cup not too long after I made the first one, or if I was making coffee for guests that wanted a pour over. At first it was fun because all this work you're doing is going to pay off to produce a great cup of coffee. When I first got into manual brew methods I had a hand grinder.
